Philanthropy Technology & The Performing Arts
Born in Los Angeles, it was no surprise to Shaynee Rainbolt's parents
that their daughter would come into the world singing and
dancing. Music,
theater and creativity were in her blood. Shaynee's mother loved jazz and
was a devotee of the Great American Song Book while her father William
Rainbolt was an actor/singer and two time Emmy Award winning television
director. Her uncle, Leon Levitch is a noted composer of classical music
whereas her uncle, Edward Levitch wrote a book recounting the family's
escape from Belgrade and the Holocaust during WWII.
2003 was a banner year for Shaynee Rainbolt beginning with the release of
From This Moment On, her critically acclaimed debut CD on the UK record
label 33 Jazz. Following a sold out performance at the Plush Room to launch
her debut disc, Ms. Rainbolt made successful debut performances at Danny's
Skylight Room in New York City and at the prestigious Pizza On the Park jazz
venue in London. Shaynee's New York show was chosen as a Critic's Pick by
Time Out Magazine and her CD was featured on the legendary Joe Franklin's
nantionally syndicated radio show, on the BBC Radio in the UK, and locally
on San Francisco's Jazz radio KKSM.
"We are thrilled to be able to add Shaynee Rainbolt to 33 Jazz Records
distinguished list of artists. ....she fits our ongoing mission of seeking
out and promoting new and distinctive voices in Jazz."
Paul Jolly, 33 Records, U.K.
Shaynee's music theater background makes her equally at home singing
Broadway or jazz standards. In San Francisco, Shaynee performs at popular
nightspots such as the Plush Room, Jazz at Pearl’s, The Cosmopolitan Cafe,
The Beat Lounge, The Purple Onion, La Tasca and Kelly's of Alameda. Away
from home, Shaynee has been heard at London's famed Pizza on the Park, New
York City's Danny's Skylight Room, and Los Angeles' recently renovated
Feinstein's at the Cinegrill. She also sings for private events, and
benefits supporting charitable organizations such as the Most Holly Redeemer
AIDS Support Group, Bread and Roses and Teddy Care, the annual cabaret
fundraiser for Shanti and the Children of San Francisco General Hospital.
Shaynee's many exciting off-stage projects include Rainbolt Hampton Arts, a
California Nonprofit Corporation that supports arts education causes and
arts related community service programs. Some of the programs they have
either sponsored or produced include the West Coast Cabaret Conference San
Francisco, Opera By the Bay Vocal Competition in Sausalito, Ca., grants for
underprivileged students to attend music classes and camps (ongoing), and
eCabaret-SF.com, a free web/email based resource for performers and clubs in
the San Francisco Bay Area. (www.ecabaret-sf.com).
Shaynee currently resides in San Rafael, CA with her husband David, and
their three cats, but has purchased a home in New York City and will be
performing there in 2005 as well as continuing her executive leadership with
Stu Smith of Tin Pan Alley Productions educational and grant making efforts
to benefit the musical community coast to coast.
